Welcome to Year 2

The teachers in Year 2 are Miss Breed and Mrs Mutarah. Learning in Year 2 is supported by Mrs Shufflebotham and Mrs Williamson.

During the Summer term, we will be looking at a wide range of topics in our class. 

Our first topic is a Narrative unit, The Twits, where we will be writing a character description and the children will have the opportunity to role play the different events of the story and write an alternative ending!

Our next topic is History and we will be learning about why canals were important in the past. Children will sequence photos in chronological order and suggest ways to find out about the past. We will also complete some Art lessons and will be exploring and creating our own sculptures.

In Maths, we will be continuing to learn about fractions, time, measurement and statistics. We will continue to recap our addition, subtraction, multiplication and division skills using problem solving scenarios.

PE 

Our PE day is Thursday. Reminders about which days you need PE kit will be posted on Dojo.  Please make sure that your child comes in to school wearing the correct PE kit. Long hair needs to be tied back. All earrings need to be removed before school.
