Nursery

Welcome to Nursery!

We would like to welcome you back after May half term.

In Nursery, we learn alongside the Development Matters. Throughout all of our work, the staff in Nursery will be assessing the children against the objectives outlined within this document and also use it to ensure that all individual needs are being met.

In Nursery, children will have daily Phonics (taught through Supersonic Phonic Friends) and Maths session in the morning and Topic sessions during the afternoon. Children are introduced to their new learning challenges in small groups. This is then further developed through child-initiated and facilitated learning that takes place throughout the day. Learning is promoted in both the indoor and outdoor environment.

During this term our topic is ‘I wonder who lives in a castle?’ We will be reading and learning about the Royal family, the past and the present.

During our Phonics sessions children will be continuing in Firm Foundations of Supersonic Phonic Friends. During this stage they will be focusing on oral blending and segmenting.

In maths the children will be continuing to learn about numbers to five, matching, sorting and comparing and 2d and 3d shapes.

In RE the children will be learning about celebrations including Eid and Father’s Day.

This half term the children will be taking part in PE every Thursday with Mrs Finch, focusing on dance.

Please ensure the children bring to school appropriate clothing such as jogging bottoms and black trainers, with their yellow school t-shirt. (see our uniform requirements for more information) If you need further information regarding clothing please contact a member of the Nursery team.

We look forward to a fun filled half term!
