Welcome to Year Two class page

Miss Rowe and Miss Sotero are the Year 2 class teachers, supported by Mrs Williamson and Mrs Wilcox.

In Year 2, we follow the National Curriculum. Our mornings include Phonics, Maths and Curriculum learning. We link our learning to a range of exciting topics that engage the children and immerse them in purposeful, meaningful experiences.

This half-term, Year 2 will be exploring the exciting topic "Let's Celebrate Britain: Our Great Britain." In Geography, children will learn about the four countries of the United Kingdom and their capital cities. They will investigate both human and physical geographical features, describe a range of natural environments found across the UK, and develop their map-reading skills through local area fieldwork.

In Science, pupils will begin by investigating Living Things and Their Habitats, learning about animals, plants, habitats, microhabitats, and food chains. We are also looking forward to a visit to Knowsley Safari Park, where children will take part in an exciting animal workshop linked to our science learning.

In Maths, children will focus on Place Value. They will develop a secure understanding of numbers, including recognising, reading, writing, ordering and comparing numbers. Pupils will explore the value of digits within numbers and use practical resources and representations to deepen their understanding of number.

PE:

PE will take place on Mondays. Please ensure your child comes to school wearing their full and correct PE kit. As some lessons will take place outdoors, children should bring a jumper or cardigan to keep warm. All earrings must be removed.

Daily Reminders:

• Please send your child to school each day with a labelled water bottle.
• Ensure all clothing and personal items are clearly named.

The Year 2 team is very excited to continue this learning journey with the children and looks forward to a wonderful half-term ahead.
